The Vudal Oro Campus, located in Popondetta, Oro Province, is a satellite campus of the Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNGUNRE). It was established to extend the university's educational offerings in agriculture and natural resource management to students in the Northern Province. In 2021, the campus resumed academic programs by enrolling 40 first-year agriculture students, following renovations and upgrades to its facilities, including improvements to information and communication technology infrastructure . However, in 2022, concerns were raised about the campus's readiness and safety, leading to calls for its closure due to inadequate infrastructure and security issues. Despite these challenges, the Vudal Oro Campus remains an important initiative aimed at decentralizing higher education and providing opportunities for students in remote regions of Papua New Guinea.
